This year perhaps more than any other, money will be one of the
biggest worries about this season. Almost all of us have been affected
by recent events, Christmas seems to be more expensive and our purses
less full.
Yet we look at our children, at what we have given in the past, and the
pressure mounts.
Normally I confess I give in to the pressure and if the credit card bulges
a bit well it will all get sorted out, but this year has to be different.
In the past the very small spiritual voice speaking out against debt was
easily drowned by the “generosity” of our banks and financial
institutions, and the temptations of the shops. Now however it is
different: economists, government, world leaders are all reeling from
the problem of debt and the small voice has become the loudest
warning.
I am sure there will still be the same temptations to spend as there
always is, perhaps this year we need to have the Christmas we can
afford and we might be surprised at how peaceful that leaves us
feeling.
“Borrow money and you are the lender’s slave” Proverbs 22 :7

Elsie - such a relevant message for many, especially now. I am facing a challenging time with cancer, which has forced lme to focus on what really matters in life. Material possessions are not important, Stripping life down to the essentials, is liberating. Helping others, and giving ones time and support to others is a privilege .

I am so glad you have found this to be a help, we do tend to get so caught up in things we forget what is important.
