6 July 2010 Distracted
So my dog is grounded, by that I mean she has to go on the lead whenever
we walk the fields just now because she cannot resist racing into the
wheatfield which is so high I cannot see her and then she gets so
distracted by scents or trails that she gets completely lost.
Above the storms of passion, the murmurs of self will.
O speak to reassure me, to hasten or control;
O speak, and make me listen, Thou Guardian of my soul." John E Bode
It occurred to me today when I was trying to get her back that I can be the same. I can start out on the right path and then become so distracted by all the noise and clamour of what is happening around me that I lose sight of where I am and end up lost.
So for anyone who feels equally distracted, here is a prayer in the words of an old hymn which seems to sum it up perfectly;
"O let me hear Thee speaking in accents clear and still,Above the storms of passion, the murmurs of self will.
O speak to reassure me, to hasten or control;
O speak, and make me listen, Thou Guardian of my soul." John E Bode
