5 July 2010 More than this

The reality of my youngest daughter starting High School was brought home to me this week as I dropped her at High School for the first time. Suddenly it seemed that everywhere were Mums with young kids and toddlers and for a time and I admit I sat in the car park and had a bubble. It all seems to go so quickly and the future seemed a bit scary for the first time. I am sure many parents feel the same way and have for generations before and generations to come.

Today however I felt it had to put in context, because being a parent or a career person or whatever we devote our time to here, is not the whole story, God has a purpose for each of us and his love and guidance are unchanging. It is all too easy to get so caught up in the day to day but ultimately although we are immersed in this world there is more if we fix our eyes on him.

"Turn your eyes upon Jesus, look full on his wonderful face,

And the things of earth will grow strangely dim, in the light of his glory and grace." Helen Lemmel

"Let us fix our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy set before him endured the cross, scorning the shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God." Hebrews 12:2
