5 May 2010 Defeated

Do you ever get days where you wake up feeling defeated before you start, for me today was one of these days, everything I needed to do seemed huge and impossible and rather than calm and peaceful I felt worried and even a little afraid although of what I do not know.

When I picked up my bible and read through the alloted reading for today it was about Elijah, who, having defeated the prophets of Baal feels scared and drained and is panicked into  making  a long and unnecessary journey. Now as far as I know I have not done anything quite as exceptional as Elijah but I did empathise with how he felt, and it was as if God himself were speaking to me when I read the following verse;

"Get up and eat for the journey is too much for you"

Some days and we may not know why, the journey is too much for us , yet as the angel came to Elijah I am sure that God comes to us, that in those moments when our fear is bigger than our faith, he is right beside us giving us what we need and carrying us for that part of the journey.

"The angel of the Lord came back a second time and touched him and said,"Get up and eat, for the journey is too much for you." So he got up  and ate and drank.Strengthened by that food he travelled forty days and forty nights until he reached Horeb, the mountain of God."
