26 April 2010 Journey

I have enjoyed hearing some of the stories which have emerged of people's journey back after being stranded due to the volcanic ash cloud. As well as some pretty horrendous tales, there are also stories of people who enjoyed the diversions and had some positive experiences. It seems that much of people's experiences had to do with whether it was about the journey or the destination.

I know if I had been stranded I would fretted and stressed and raced around like mad looking for an alternative route, but I have to admire those who accepted it and attempted to enjoy the journey. Sometimes I need to be reminded to enjoy the journey. There are Christians I have met who are so fixated on  heaven, whose constantly dismiss this world and keep their eyes on eternity. I may be wrong but I don't think that is what God expects of us. He has created a beautiful world, not without its problems and suffering sure, but a world for us to enjoy and a life to live fully. Heaven will be the perfect destination, but the journey is also a blessing to be experienced and hopefully enjoyed.
