20 January 2010 Clothed
I am writing this today with a streaming nose and a sore head as I nurse my first cold of 2010. The irony of this is not lost on my family, because for the last two weeks I have fought and argued with my daughters as they make their way to school in the slush and snow with what can only be described as leather ballet pumps on their feet; no gloves or hats because they tell me it is too much hassle to carry around when they get to school. I on the other hand have been suitably clothed from hat to boots in order to protect me from the weather yet I am the one with a cold.
It seems that on some occasions no amount of protection can work and stuff just happens. I'll bet the man who built his bigger barns tostore his bigger harvest felt pretty smug yet during the night hedropped dead , our best preparation is to keep building our relationship with God, keep praying, reading his word and trying to act on it, everything else is outwith our control.
"Then Jesus said to his disciples," And so I tell you not to worryabout the food you need to stay alive or about the clothes you need foryour body.Life is much more important than food, and the body much moreimportant than clothes." Luke 12 vs 22-23
