15 January 2010 Wisdom
We have been deciding on a house on which I am pleased to say we have now had an offer accepted. For me this decision went beyond the practical side of owning a house, oh no I had to tie into it everything and as I considered transport and location I was weighing up the effects on my children's future social life and independence. As my children are still 10 and 13 eventually I realised that perhaps their entire future happiness and wellbeing would not be solely dependent on this next house. They were not even worrying about their future happiness as much as I was. Oh for wisdom.
It is not common practice now to have copies of the ten commandments hanging on the walls or placed around the house, yet I am often drawn back to them for their wisdom. A house is of course only a house and not the most important thing in life, so "Thou shalt have no other Gods but me" rather screamed at me this time around.
It may not be fashionable to talk about the Ten commandments but they are still such a help.
"The Law of the Lord is perfect; it gives new strength.
The commands of the Lord are trustworthy,
giving wisdom to those who lack it." Psalm 19 vs 7
