13 January 2010 Worth
Yesterday I was listening to a news item regarding bonuses paid to
those who work in the financial sector. One of the men being
interviewed stated that most of them measured their worth and value
according to the size of bonus they received and if one were to earn
half of what another earned they considered themselves half the person.
I thought this seemed such a sad way of measuring what we are worth, to think that one's self belief was totally derived from a monetary value imposed by others.
Jesus reminds us that we are loved by our Father in heaven, that every hair on our head is counted and that his love for us knows no end, from this we can take our sense of self, for as God's creation each one of us is beyond price.
"Are not two sparrows sold for a penny?Yet not one of them will fall to the ground apart from the will of your Father. And even the very hairs on your head are all numbered. So don't be afraid you are worth more than many sparrows." Matthew 10 vs 29
