7 December 2010 Choices

Some choices are easily made.

This morning after a snowy school run when we arrived at the gates the teachers were giving  pupils and parents the choice of turning around or staying. Not a difficult choice for us - stay at school or go home, hmm let me think!

Notall choices are this straightforward, I used to love Radio 4 programme"The Choice which told the story of ordinary people faced with impossible situations, the choices they made and the consequences.

Joshua before he dies gives the Israelites a choice, to follow God forsaking all other Gods or to turn their back and he is very clear on the choice he makes. Today as in every day I know I will be faced with lots of choices, in small ordinary situations will I choose to follow God or not? Will I pass on that piece of gossip, Will I make time to read my bible, will I spend my money on unnecessary things or put it to good use? Will I befriend that person I don't really like or just ignore them as usual?

God knows our choices and there are consequences

"But if serving the Lord seems undesirable to you, then choose for yourselves this day whom you will serve....But as for me and my household,we will serve the Lord." Joshua 24 vs 14-15
