4 January 2010 Chargers

The charger in our house has been working overtime. With iphones and i touch and ipods it seems constantly to be in use and as three people are sharing it to boost their various technologies, somebody is regularly disappointed and left with a powerless gizmo.

I am not the techy in our house and I am staggered at the applications my kids have downloaded, and the sophistication of what these tiny screens can do, but when they are out of charge, they are out of charge and they are powerless.

Yesterday I was not able to get to church again, I had a good reason, dropping my mum off at Euston station but somehow with various seasonal events I have not made it to church since the week before Christmas and I can feel myself losing charge. Many people feel the idea of church attendance irrelevance to them, but time out of our schedule, time devoted to listening to the word of God, to prayer, to the support of fellow believers can never be irrelevant, and for anyone seeking to know God more it is crucial.

Hearing his word, taking time to pray is my charger and without it, like the ipods I am powerless.

"They devoted themselves to the apostles' teaching, and to the fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer.Everyone was filled with awe, and many wonders and miraculous signs were done by the apostles. All the believers were together and had everything in common." Acts 2 vs42-43
