1 January 2010

My kids bought me a SAT NAG for Christmas, I had never seen one before but it is a small device full of nagging driving messages designed for the best back seat driver. I think I hear what they are trying to tell me.
I am however a great fan of the SAT NAV system and for my first few months new to this  area it was such a help to my confidence to have this small machine guiding me through unknown territory.

I wonder if that is what the New Year looks like to many of us, unknown territory, with who knows what lying ahead good and bad. However this is when Christmas can help us all year through, for when Jesus was born of human flesh into this world, he bore the name Immanuel, God with us. He has not disappeared along with the Christmas cake and turkey (actually the turkey just doesn't ever disappear fast enough does it?), but he is with us, throughout the year to come.

Knowing he is there can give us  courage to look with confidence and joy towards 2010, and  when we choose to listen we will hear not a nagging voice but a loving Father guiding us onwards.

"..and they will call him Immanuel which means God with us" Matthew 1 vs 23
