21 December 2009 Homeless

On Saturday we were in London doing some Christmas things with the girls, and enjoyed a lovely day together. As we were making our way back with the girls chatting and giggling, my attention was caught by a young girl begging at the subway with a sign saying "hungry and homeless please help."

Although its not the first time I've seen this, there was something about her and the contrast between her situation the happy Christmas shoppers that moved me to tears. I felt helpless for a few coins would not really change her life, so I have been doing the only other thing I can do and praying for her.

God Bless those who make it their ministry to look after the homeless through this season, and we can give and donate in all sorts of ways, but most importantly we can pray, that the God who can do the impossible will be close to her and those in need, letting her know how much he loves her and that she has not been  forgotten.  Jesus tells us

""The Spirit of the Lord is on me, because He has anointed me to preach good news to the poor. He has sent me to proclaim freedom for the prisoners and recovery of sight for the blind, to release the oppressed." Luke 4:18
