9 December 2009 Too Much To Do
There just aren't enough hours in the day just now to do all that needs done, and I hear from so many people who as we approach Christmas are run off their feet and stressed about fitting it all in. Work, domestics, children's Christmas concerts, it can seem overwhelming. The truth is there aren't enough hours in the day, we keep on pouring more and more tasks into a finite length of time and it just doesn't fit.
Sometimes it helps to take a long look at how much we are trying to do andconsider out of that list what is really important. Isaiah writes
"Why spend money on what is not bread, and your labour on what does notsatisfy? Listen to me and eat what is good, and your soul will delight in the richest of fare." Isaiah 55 vs 2
We cannot lengthen the day but we can check whether our time and energy is beingspent on what really counts and perhaps cut down the list. I look forward to to "delighting my soul in the richest of fare."
