8 December 2009 Not for nothing

This morning as I walked the fields in the rain and sank deeper into the mud I found myself wondering why we had to have so much of it. Of course this week sees the start of the climate conference and the debate which rages about how much we are to blame for the changes in climate. As the message of global warming continues to be preached I wonder if it sometimes seems a hopeless case.

At times too Ithink we can get discouraged in trying to live a Christian life andtell people the gospel, it can seem sometimes that no-one is listeningand what good is it doing.

It was wonderful however a few hours later to read from Isaiah

"As the rain and snow come down from heaven, and do not return to it without watering the earth and making it bud and flourish,

so that it yields seed for the sower and bread for the eater, so is my word that goes out from my mouth;

It will not return to me empty but will accomplish what I desire and achieve the purpose for which I sent it."

Isaiah 55 10-11

 Nothing is lost.
