22 October 2009 Attention

The other day  three of us were walking the dogs through the fields and one of the mums had a carrier on her back with her toddler. As we chatted and talked the little girl started to interrupt and we all just ignored her, until about ten minutes later we realised she was trying to tell us that she had dropped her hat, a long way back ....

She could not get our attention, and I don't think God fares any better sometimes. If he has something he wants us to do how does he get us to listen? We are often so busy with our lives and our work that we don't take enough time to ask his will.

Moses was staring at the plight of the Israelites, he knew how bad it was, he even murdered one of the persecutors and then he ran into the wilderness for years. I wonder was God talking to him all that time trying to get him to see that he had to go back and do something? Was the burning bush the last resort to get him to notice? Perhaps not ,but do we sometimes need a burning bush to get our attention?

"There the angel of the Lord appeared to him in a flame of fire out of a bush; he looked, and the bush was blazing yet it was not consumed."Exodus 3 vs 2
