I was listening to the radio this morning, and heard an interview with the Priest who accompanied the catholic school children in 2001, in Northern Ireland as they walked the gauntlet of protesters. You may remember the news coverage, however he said that right up until the last moment he did not know whether he should walk with them or not, and a few seconds before they set off he just knew he was meant to walk with them however terrifying that would turn out to be.

He spoke of how during times of crisis, the Holy Spirit can guide us.

I can think on situations when I was really searching for a way and the answer came, sometimes just the strongest feeling of what to do, sometimes a word from someone else. It can happen in many ways, but it does happen. We do however need to pray about situations and ask for guidance and most of all we need to clear out the clutter in our heads so that we are open to hear it.

His story was a remarkable one , how God used an ordinary, frightened man in an extraordinary situation. If we are listening who knows how he might use us.
