The theme of our service on Sunday was Peace, and I have been thinkingabout that since in particular the words of the well known hymn "Makeme a channel of your peace"

How can we do that? How can we be a channel of God's peace. At the mostobvious level we are called to be peacekeepers, to find a way to livein harmony with those around us. Yet even that is hard, no sooner havewe prayed for world peace and these huge concepts than we pick up ourold complaints and grudges within our own families, churches andcommunities.To make things harder, I think the concept is bigger eventhan that , I think in order to channel peace we must be at peace. Inthe same way that only when we feel loved by God can we pass on hislove to others, so it is with peace.

Firstly we need to feel the peace of God, to still the voices around usand hear his voice, to obey what he asks of us and to believe , reallybelieve that he loves us. Only then can we help "pass the peace" toothers.
