Last week I had some good friends to stay from Scotland and we had a lovely time exploring the area and catching up with our news. I was sorry to see them go but what really surprised me was how stressed I became over the jobs I had to catch up on after what had been a relaxing week. By Saturday lunchtime, calm ,holiday mum had become nightmare on Elm Street.

It took me time to realise but during the week I had stopped reading my bible, there didn't seem to be enough time and I was having too much fun to slow down and take time with God, and so by the time I got to the weekend I had lost sight of what was important. Somehow the ironing pile and the shopping and the cleaning became mammoth tasks and absolutely the most pressing thing in my life. It was clear which passage I needed to go to

"Martha Martha, you are worried and distracted by many things; there is need of only one thing.Mary has taken the better part, and it will not be taken from her."  Luke 10 vs 41-42

Whatever I am doing, however much to catch up on, I cannot afford not to spend time with God and keep a clear view of what is really needed.
