13 October 2009 Guidance

Yesterday the issue of MP expenses was back in the news and the morningbroadcasts were suggesting that even if legally MP's were not requiredto pay back the amounts they had been given, the "court of publicopinion" may force them to.

It seems that the power of the pressand what others think of us is just as big an influence in what we doas the law. Perhaps however there is another reason to do what isright, for God sees all that we do, he knows our thoughts and ourintentions and from him nothing is hidden.

Depending on how weview it, some people are turned against faith by the idea of an angryFather watching our every move and judging us on it. Indeed for a longtime as a child this was my view, but I have come to realise that Godwatches over us as a loving Father. In the same way we watch and guideour children in order that they may have the best from life, he toowants to guide us to do the right thing because  that way liesfreedom, freedom from guilt, from worry from hurting others and theconsequences of our actions. I find myself more and more thankful tohave such a guide and the closer I become to him the less I want totake part in anything that may have to be hidden.

"And before him no creature is hidden, but all are naked and laid bareto the eyes of the one to whom we must render an account." Hebrews 4 vs13
