5 October 2009 Our Very Best
Isn't it tempting when we are busy and have a lot going on to just get
through things and tick them off the list. As I was writing some emails
to people I knew I had neglected for a while I became aware that I was
trying to get through them as quickly as possible so that I could get
on with other things. Definitely not giving my best.
Yet at the other end of each of these was a person, someone who wanted to hear from me and catch up on my news, someone who deserved a bit of time and thought, who was not just a name on a list.
When we look at why we do things it becomes clearer. If everything we do, big and important or small and everyday is done for God and his glory, then how can we think of rushing ,it surely it deserves our very best and no skimping. We cannot do everything, it doesn't all fit but how much better to take a few things and give of our best, that race through the list just to get finished.
God has given us so much, holding nothing back, whatever we do in his name surely deserves the same effort.
"Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart as working for the Lord, not for men, since you know you will receive an inheritance from the Lord as a reward. It is the Lord Christ you are serving."
Colossians 3 vs 23-24
