Lots of us get times when we are afraid, yesterday I was afraid of thedentist which sounds silly, there are many bigger things to be afraid of, afraid of hospital tests or afraid of exam results or afraid of arestructure in the business.

The bible tells us how Jacob was feeling when he went to meet with Esau his brother after being away for some years. This was the brother he had cheated out of his birthright, and now he is returning home to face the music. He must have been terrified as to the reaction. But he didn't turn and run, instead he went forward reminding himself of God's promise to give him courage.

Sometimes I forget to do this, but God tells us, not to fear, to know that he loves us and he will be with us and to boldly go on with ourlives for our future is in his hands. What an encouragement and reassurance.

"You are my servant, I have chosen you and not rejected you.
So do not fear for I am with you, do not be dismayed for I am your God.
I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand."
