What an amazing story of the Anglo Saxon treasures found in Staffordshire.
To find about 1500 artifacts from so long ago is very exciting and I have been trying to image what the man with the metal detector must have been feeling as he stumbled across them.
The British Museum rightly so is delighted and comparing it to finding a new Book of Kells.
It reminds me of a verse in the bible I used not long ago on my blog,
"The Kingdom of Heaven is like this.A man happens to find treasure hidden in a field.He covers it up again, and is so happy that he goes and sells everything he has and then goes back and buys that field." Matthew 13 vs 44
Jesus is telling us that when we come into his Kingdom so great will be our joy that it will surpass everything we have ever known, and we will be willing to give up everything for it. I can't imagine that, but I do look forward to it.
It is there for all to enjoy, and we don't need to rush out for a metal detector.
