23 September 09 Distractions
This morning as I sat down to write this thought I switched on my PCand couldn't resist having a look at my emails. Two of them were quite interesting and as I am searching for a house at the moment , oneinvolved going into the estate agent website ,then a call to set up a viewing etc etc etc...
I guess you know the feeling, now it is hours since I sat down to write this and all day I have been distracted by other things. Isn't it so easy to let everything else get in the way of a few moments quiet time with God, everything else seems so much more pressing and urgent, yet what could be more urgent than taking time to find out God's plan for the day.
No-one had more calls on his time and attention than Jesus did in his three short years of ministry but he always put God first and found a quiet time and place to pray, because that time gave him the strength and courage to do everything else he had to do. I need to learn from that, for lest I put God at the centre of my day, then my day will be about my agenda and not his wishes and I will move ever so slightly away from him again.
"Come near to God and he will come near to you" James 4 vs8
