17 September 09 Joy
When was the last time you felt really happy, a sense of euphoria, that everything in life was good. Was it when you were on holiday? or when you had good results from the doctors? I have just returned from the dentist having had some serious root canal treatment that I was dreading, and I am euphoric that it is over ( a feeling that may not last beyond the shots wearing off I expect.)But these joys pale into nothing compared to the joy Jesus describes when he is describing the Kingdom of Heaven.
"A man happens to find a treasure hidden in a field. He covers it up again, and is so happy that he goes and sells everything he has and then goes back and buys that field." Matthew 13 vs44
A joy so great that we give up everything to follow it, sounds more wonderful than I am capable of imagining, yet Jesus promises that it can be so for each of us and all we need to do is to believe.
"Thy kingdom come, thy will be done."
