15 September 09 Trust

As the government and financiers still reflect on last year, yesterday I heard the phrase coined

"There is a crisis of trust" and I think that also could apply to many of us in our faith. For although I want to trust and I believe completely that God loves me and will keep his promises, some part of me will not quite let go and turn it all over to him. A crisis of trust.

Yet I also know by not trusting and leaving it to God ,I sometimes interfere and make the wrong choices, I certainly give myself a boatload of unnecessary worry. This morning I read my bible notes where the commentator asked me to consider how I had seen God working in my life in the past week. As I considered it, I could see lots of things, small ordinary ways that God had been there ,but which I had failed to notice because I was so busy worrying about the things yet to come.

The financial crisis of trust came about because the institutions we depended on let us down, but when I look back, God has never let me down, he has never betrayed that trust and so tentatively, once again I hand it over to him and go into my day leaving it in his hands.

"Don't worry about anything, but in all your prayers ask God for what you need always asking him with a thankful heart. And Gods peace which is beyond human understanding, will keep your hearts and minds safe in union with Christ Jesus."
