Yesterday I read an article in the paper which seemed to claim that
there was no scientific evidence to back up the advertising claims of
probiotic products, you know the ones, the yoghurts which claim to
help with digestion and to build our immune systems up against colds
and flus. Sorry if this comes as a surprise, but I think most of us
treat marketing messages with some degree of sceptisism.
I wonder if that sceptisism carries over into all messages, do we treat claims from churches and Christians with the same mistrust, just another ploy to catch our attention and have we become so hardened to such things that we no longer pay attention, expecting there to be some catch.
Jesus spent his ministry among people, sharing in their pain and hurts, loving them and healing them, often asking that they tell no-one, yet their experience of him and his love was much more than they could have ever believed possible.
" Now to him who is able to do immeasurable more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us, to him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, for ever and ever! Amen" Ephesians 3 vs 20
