Why is it that when we impose a deadline on ourselves our to do list gets longer? I know I am about to go on holiday so I must have .....all done by the time I go. Some of the things on my list have been there for months, so another week won't hurt, yet there seems to be in me anyway, a kind of guilt that won't give me permission to enjoy myself until I have done all my work first.

Responsibility is a good thing but when we make ourselves tired and crabby with it we lose sight of God's purpose for us, which is to lovehim and to love those around us.

In Matthew 12 vs 7 Jesus reminds the Pharisees
"I desire mercy, not sacrifice" which for me means not yelling at the kids because I am trying to write my thought for the day, but taking a deep breath, stilling myself and doing what is  God's plan for my day.
