14 July 2009 Never Happy

Sometimes it feels as if you can never get it right, that whatever you do displeases someone.
Ithink the ones who suffer most from this are our clergy and ourpoliticians. For our ministers, the service is either too traditionalor too contemporary, and as for politicians they have no chance ofpleasing everyone.

It may be some comfort to know this has neverchanged, in Matthew's gospel Jesus points out that the crowd ridiculedJohn the Baptist because he fasted and drank no wine, he has a demon inhim they said, yet when Jesus came and ate and drank they said "he is aglutton and a drinker".

What can we do in these situations then?Follow Christ's way, do what we know he wants of us  and ignore thediscouraging voices.

"God's wisdom however, is shown to be true by its results."
Matthew 11 vs 16-19
