26 June 2009 Unchanging

Today is the last day of term for the schools in Scotland, as the kids will happily pour out of the gates it is, I think, always a time of mixed emotions for parents, for it is another milestone, For those who are finishing school either Primary or Secondary, it is a big change and there will no doubt be tears.

Yesterday my godson left to fly to Malawi with his school,as part of a project to help a community, when I spoke with him he was excited and ready to go, when I spoke to his Mum she was excited for him but dreading the parting.

Today we hear the surprising news of the death of Michael Jackson, and it is strange that this star whose music I grew up with is no longer here.

Our lives change all the time, and what was familiar and comforting one day can have shifted within the blink of an eye.But. this world, this life is not everything, there is a God who is in control  watching over us, never changing, never sleeping, never leaving and his love for us remains steady.

"He will not let you fall;
your protector is always awake.
The protector of Israel nver slumbers nor sleeps.
The Lord will guard you he is by your side to protect you.
The sun will not hurt you by day
nor the moon during the night."
Psalm121 vs3-6
