I was listening to an author recently on the radio discussing the first ghost story he had written. He was explaining that it was the hardest book he had ever written because once you suspend the rules and laws of the natural world then anything is possible and it was hard to know when to stop.

My children would love there to be no rules, no set time to go to bed, no TV watching restrictions and no uniform, at least they think they would, but they too set down their own rules in order to play fairly.
Sometimes the bible seems to people just a set of rules, of do's and don'ts,and I have had several people say to me that they are not interested in religion as they do'nt want someone telling them what to do.
I see my faith however primarily about love, God's love for us and our love for others and in oder to demonstrate that love and keep us from doing ourselves harm God gave us the commandments.
Yes a set of rules but rules given by a loving parent who wants the best for his children.
"People of Israel be sure that you do everything the Lord has commanded you.Do not disobey any of his laws. Obey them all, so that everything will go well with you." Deuteronomy 6 vs 32
