11 June 2009 Lipstick

Yesterday after a fairly stressful start to the week, I treated myself to a new lipstick. Now I don't know what the equivalent is for men, but for me and (I think others) buying a new lipstick is more than just purchasing a piece of makeup, it signifies the change of season, and the endless possibilities.

Not only will it make me look entirely different, but I will be a new person, a better person and all the flaws and things I most dislike about myself will disappear. That at least is what the marketing implies and If I am being really honest a little bit of that belief does rub off on me.

It is of course completely ridiculous, there is nothing we can buy which will make us a better person, or help us to feel better about ourselves, but there is someone who never stops believing in us even when we don't believe in ourselves. A God who loves us, no matter what, who through the ages has proved his loved for us in so many ways. I still enjoy buying a new lipstick, but it is to his word I go for real change.

"For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish, but have eternal life".John 3 vs 16
