10 June 2009 Slowly
I have driven in a few different countries now and it would be fair to
say I am what my husband tactfully refers to as a "conservative"
driver. I tend to make my journeys to and fro keeping to the speedlimit
and enjoying whatever is on the radio, but since moving south I seem to
be the reason for a great deal of raised blood pressure from the driver
behind.
Now apologies to you in advance if that has ever been you, but I have never had people drive so close to the back of my car, or overtake in such wildly hazardous ways and I have never before been so conscious that the accelerator could also be a form of abuse, as it roars past me with its stream of cursing.
I may not be a drivers driver but is all that really necessary. Up ahead is only another me and another and at the end of the day why do we need to get where we are going so quickly?
So today, if I or one like me is ahead of you, why not slow down, take a deep breath and start to enjoy the journey.
"This is the day that the Lord has made, let us rejoice and be glad in it" Psalm 118 vs 24
