Walking back from school on Thursday my youngest daughter was telling me that she preferred the Maths paper where you can use your calculator because you just press the keys and it gives you the answer. I knew what she meant and tried to tell her that it all depended on which keys you pressed but it still seemed to her the easy way.

Some people it seems to me have just as simplistic an idea of faith, they seem to have a direct communication line to God who always gives them an answer, which incidentally coincides with the answer they wanted, their lives are filled with miracles- the one available parking space, and they have absolute belief that if they just pray hard enough for healing some physical ailment it will happen.
My faith journey has not been like that at all, answers are not always clear, sometimes God seems to be somewhere else and healing has not always sadly happened on demand. Yet my faith has been stronger for the waiting, for the difficult times, for the lessons God has taught me.

If the calculator just gave the answers how would we ever learn to cope with the hard sums.

"The seeds that fell on the rocky ground stand for those who hear the message and receive it gladly. But it does not sink deep into them;they believe only for a while but when the time of testing comes, they fall away."
