26 May 2009 Faith
Sometimes I can have a lot of doubt about my faith. I never doubt that
there is a God, but I can doubt sometimes that he will do what he
promises. I know this because I at times I am scared to hope in case it
all falls apart. You know that feeling when something you really want
to happen is in the balance and you don't want to get too excited too
quickly in case it doesn't.
I read these words today in Hebrews, famous words which have stayed with me all day almost challenging how I can possibly doubt.
"To have faith is to be sure of the things we hope for, to be certain of the things we cannot see." Hebrews 11 vs 1
It is telling me that if I have faith then I can be sure the things I hope for will happen, to be sure that God will deliver his promises, certainly when I look back he has never let me down in the important things, and if I read on in Hebrews, I read of Abraham and Moses and Noah where God delivered the impossible and they succeeded not because they were perfect but because they have faith.
What encouraging words and all we have to do is believe them.
