22 May 2009 Joy
I was uplifted this week to read from a book by Max Lucado a chapter
called "Why did Jesus Go To Parties?" In which he concludes that Jesus
went to the Wedding with his disciples simply to have fun and enjoy
himself, the chapter goes on to highlight the fact that Jesus was
invited to the Wedding because people wanted to be with him. And the
line I loved was the following
"His faith made him likeable, not detestable would that ours would do the same."
It is a bit of a generalisation and a little strong in my opinion ,but I think worth reminding us that its OK to be happy, to have fun ,and that as disciples we too should not be judgemental and sombre, but approachable and likeable. There is still joy to be found in this world and sometimes we need to raise our eyes and see it.
"Two days later there was a wedding in the town of Cana in Gallilee.Jesus's mother was there and Jesus had also been invited."
John 2vs 1
