Where are we rooted?

Whenever life seems to get out of control, we are too busy or we have complicated questions and issues to deal with, it is important to come back to basics to where we are rooted, in order to find out way again. When a shrub becomes too tangled and messy we take it back to the roots in order to let it grow , and so it is with us, sometimes we need to go back to what gives us our strength.

For many people today that may be family, or birthplace or belief. Paul in his letter to the church at Ephesus says something quite different, he says
"I pray that you may have roots and foundations in love..." Ephesians 3 vs 17

This love he speaks of is the love that God has for us, that we may feel loved, that we may realise just how much God does love us and that understanding in turn allows us to play our part in this world ,with such love being the motivation for all our thoughts and actions. For when we know we are truly loved we can relaise our potential and achive great things.

"I pray that you may have your roots and foundations in love, so that you, together with all God's people may have the power to understand how broad and long, how high and deep is Christ's love.....To him who by the means of his power working in us is able to do so much more than we can ever ask for or even think of." Ephesians 3 vs 17-21
