Recently there was a movie around called "What happens in Vegas...", I
didn't see it but the title suggests the idea that things were done on
a weekend away which the participants would rather not have made public
knowledge.
Now I have nothing to confess from my bank holiday weekend, it was much less wild, but there is in all of us a tendancy to put on different personalities for different occasions.Some of us put on a worksuit and become a manager, some of us come home at night put on the comfy clothes and once more become mum or dad, and perhaps the face we show at church is different again to what goes on behind our closed doors.
This may be no comfort, but God sees all of us, the bits we show and the bits we would rather "stay in Vegas", however in spite of all of this he loves us. If he can know and love us, then we might ask ourselves whether it is time to come out of hiding.
"Lord, you have examined me and you know me.
You know everything I do;
from far away you understand all my thoughts.
You see me whether I am working or resting; you know all my actions.
Evene before I speak, you already know what I will say.
You are round me on every side to protect me with your power.
Your knowledge of me is too deep;
it is beyond my understanding."
Psalm 139 vs 1-6
