28 April 2009 Focus
For the last two days I have suffered a heavy cold, which left me
feeling a bit low and sorry for myself. As I sat sniffling and sneezing
and watching reports of the spread of swine flu, I was sure I could
feel all sorts of aches and pains.
It is surprisingly easy to feel sorry for ourselves isn't it, to slip into self pity, but the important word here is self. Whenever we hit problems if we let the focus be ourselves then the size of the problem will grow before our very eyes. If however we can look to God, sharing our problem with him and leaving it in his hands, then the world shifts back into focus and the problem becomes smaller.
"I have told you this so that you will have peace by being united to me. The world will make you suffer. But be brave!I have defeated the world!"
