20 April 2009 Action

When we return to work and school and routines after Easter, I wonder if we will be different. I know my household is a bit gloomy that the holidays and the excitement of Easter is over and I was thinking what happens now.

Easter is all about Christ giving up his life for us and we spend a lot of time thinking about how wonderful this gift is. When we go back to daily, earthly life we take this love with us, but it demands a response. It is not enough to think on how glorious it all was, it compels us to do something, to make a difference in this world. That doesn't need to be huge and lifechanging, but maybe as simple as the Psalmist sets out.

Psalm 112

"Happy is the person who honours the Lord, who takes pleasure in obeying his commands....
Happy is the person who is generous with his loans, who runs his business honestly...
He is not afraid of receiving bad news; his faith is strong and he trusts in the Lord.
He is not worried or afraid...
He gives generously to the needy, and his kindness never fails..."
