9 April 2009 Guilt

Sometimes we get it badly wrong don't we? We cheat or lie or go completely against God's teaching, our human side takes over from our spiritual side and it is the most awful feeling.

It is hard to imagine how Judas Iscariot felt after he betrayed Jesus, to have been responsible for betraying the Son of God must carry a guilt beyond imagination. So much so that Judas gave up on himself and committed suicide.

God however never gives up on us, he promises that if we truly repent then all our sins whatever they may be are forgiven. I think on King David in the Old Testament, adultery and murder on his conscience, yet repentant and forgiven.

Who knows what Judas might have done if he had been able to turn back to God, because God would have turned to him with arms outstretched? Who knows what you and I might be able to do whatever baggage we carry if just take it to him and allow ourselves a fresh start.

"He was still a long way off, when his father saw him;his heart was filled with pity, and he ran, threw his arms around his son,and kissed him." Luke 15 vs 20
