6 April 2009 Faith
Easter week can raise a lot of questions among believers and non
believers. For the happenings of Easter week, the resurrection, defy
anything we can explain or prove and for many this is a step too far.
Jesus the teacher we love and can understand, Jesus raised to life
leaves many uncomfortable. The bookstores carry their usual selection
of those who have investigated the facts but at the end of the day we
are still no nearer absolute certainty. And never will be. Because
frustrating though it may be, for the seekers of truth it all comes
back to faith.
For me belief in the resurrection comes from looking back, looking back over God's promises and covenants to his people through the generations, promises kept in spite of all the odds against them. And from looking back in my own story, where God has never failed me. This Easter week, my thoughts are going to look at some of these promises and their fulfilment as an encouragement that God can do anything, use anyone, conquer all ultimately even death itself.
"But Jesus beheld them, and said unto them, With men this is impossible; but with God all things are possible." -Matthew 19:26
